Rats

Kiwi, Becki & Jo

Name: Kiwi (top left), Becki (bottom left) & Jo (top right)
Species: Fancy rat
Sex: Female
Age: Approx 1 year
Status: Available for Adoption

Becki & Jo arrived to us from a large hoarding case where over 80 rats were rescued from one household. They were treated for respiratory infections on arrival and responded well, but are still occasionally sneezy due to suspected respiratory scarring from previous untreated infection. They don’t currently require any treatment, but like most rats, may be prone to respiratory infections in the future.

Kiwi arrived on her own as she had sadly lost her friend, so we later introduced her to Becki and Jo. Kiwi is the most confident of the bunch and enjoys human attention. Becki and Jo currently see humans merely as food deliverers, but have definitely improved since joining us in February.

Becki had a small, less than pea-sized, mammary tumour removed a month ago and has healed up brilliantly. Kiwi was spayed recently as she was starting to become a bit of a pest with the other girls. She has healed well and is already much calmer!

Minimum housing requirements:
3-4 rats = 100cm w x 54cm depth (or 5400cm square footprint) x 64cm height (i.e. Coco Large, Mamble 100)
5 – 10 rats = 100cm w x 54cm depth (or 5400cm square footprint) x 120cm height (Liberta Explorer, Savic Royal Suite 95, Little Zoo Venturer etc)
10+ rats = Savic Royal Suite XL or something custom made bigger than a Liberta Explorer!

Rabbits

Conker

Name: Conker
Breed: Mini Rex
Sex: Male (neutered)
Age: Approx 9 months
Status: RESERVED

Conker is a stunning young adult rabbit who came into our care from less than ideal conditions and is enjoying now having space to stretch his legs. He has been neutered and fully vaccinated and will be ready to bond from 31st August.

Conker did have some minor dental spurs on arrival due to a lack of hay in his diet, but these weren’t significant enough to require burring and should resolve themselves now he is on a majority hay-based diet. His teeth will be re-checked by an exotics vet prior to bonding/adoption.

Conker is looking for a home with a neutered & vaccinated bunny friend. We provide a bonding service (at no extra charge) whereby the adopter’s rabbit comes to stay with us, usually for a couple of weeks, while we supervise the bonding process. Full rescue back up and ongoing support is also provided following bonding.

Minimum housing requirements: 24/7 permanent access to a 2mx3m (60 sq ft) predator and bunny proof enclosure.

Rabbits

Bluebell & Teasel

Name: Bluebell & Teasel
Breed: Mini Lop
Sex: Bluebell – Female. Teasel – Male (both neutered)
Age: Bluebell born Oct 2021. Teasel born February 2022.
Status: Available for adoption

Bluebell and Teasel came into our care when Teasel was only a few days old, along with another 2 babies. Bluebell had been impregnated by her brother as her previous humans were sold mis-sexed rabbits.

Very sadly, Teasel’s siblings passed away suddenly (post mortem tests confirmed this was not VHD). Teasel had issues with minor nasal and eye discharge, so had a couple of courses of antibiotics which didn’t make much difference, followed by x-rays which showed no issues and a nasal swab which was negative for any nasty bacteria. As such he doesn’t require any treatment, but may just have the occassional slightly damp nose.

Bluebell is a typical rabbit in that she is not keen on being handled, while Teasel is much more confident with people. They are looking for a home together as a pair. Both buns are neutered and fully vaccinated.

Minimum housing requirements: 24/7 permanent access to a 2mx3m (60 sq ft) predator and bunny proof enclosure. Bluebell & Teasel are currently living outdoors, and as Bluebell is a little nervous of people we feel they would be best suited to outdoor living.

Hamsters

Sarah

Name: Sarah
Species: Syrian hamster
Sex: Female
Age: Born May 2022
Status: Available for adoption

Sarah came into our care as part of a large intake of hamsters after someone purchased 2 female Syrians who turned out to both be pregnant!

She is a typical young hammy in that she is a little nervous of being handled, but isn’t bitey. She will need a patient adopter who is happy to work on his taming. While she is ok with very calm handling, she isn’t suitable for handling children at the moment.

Minimum housing requirements: 100x50cm. Sarah will also need a multichamber hide or multiple large hides, 28cm or larger wheel, a sand bath and plenty of deep substrate for burrowing in.

Hamsters

Spinner

Name: Spinner
Species: Syrian hamster
Sex: Female
Age: Approx 5 months old
Status: Available for adoption

Spinner came into our care along with a large number of baby hamsters after her previous humans unknowingly purchased her and another female pregnant.

Spinner has finished her mothering duties and has also passed her pregnancy watch, so is now looking for her forever home.

She is active and inquistive, but a bit nervous of handling at present. She will likely improve over time with a patient adopter. She does better in a barless enclosure.

Minimum housing requirements: 100x50cm barless enclosure (an Ikea Linnmon would be perfect!). Spinner will also need a multichamber hide, 28cm or larger wheel, a sand bath and plenty of deep substrate for burrowing in.

Hamsters

Heidi

Name: Heidi
Species: Syrian hamster
Sex: Female
Age: Approx 4 months old
Status: Available for adoption

Heidi came into our care as part of a large intake of hamsters after someone purchased 2 female Syrians who turned out to both be pregnant!

Heidi has now passed her pregnancy watch and is ready to find a home. She is a friendly hammy who is ok with calm handling, but may be a little jumpy at first.

Minimum housing requirements: 100x50cm barless enclosure. Heidi will also need a multichamber hide, 28cm or larger wheel, a sand bath and plenty of deep substrate for burrowing in.
